A digital twin (DT) is the creation of an identical virtual replica of a product, process or tangible system to which real-time data is linked and that can be captured using sensors or other technological resources bound to Big Data.
All this information is processed using Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing and Machine Learning to obtain a faithful representation that can feel, think and act.
In short, a digital twin is a virtual copy of an object or process in the physical world.
Sensors attached to this object or process and interconnected can transmit real-time data about its status. In this way, it is possible to obtain the same information when analysing the physical product as its digital twin. A closed-loop feedback will be thus created in a virtual environment allowing our customers to optimise their products and their production, while, at the same time, reducing costs.
They can be used for the purpose of virtual validation of product performance, in our case, from parts and assemblies to complete machines and installations.
In this way, it is possible to avoid the need to produce prototypes, thus reducing development time, improving the quality of the final product and dispensing with the need for trial and error terminology, so that the success of each application will be guaranteed.
They help in the process of validating the effectiveness of a production process before it is carried out under certain conditions or to analyse whether the process adopted is the most appropriate one.
In this sense, it is possible to achieve production optimisation by relocating equipment locations to ensure the most suitable workflow, predict times required for maintenance tasks, etc.
